A secret division of the X-Men sanctioned by Cyclops and tasked with the mission to save humanity from extinction level threats. This team roster includes some of the most powerful mutants on the planet.
Avengers vs X-men[]
During the Avengers vs X-Men where X-men fought the Avengers for Hope Summers to become Phoenix but five members of the Extinction Team became The Phoenix Five. As each one of them falls the portions goes to those who were not deafened and make them stronger. Cyclops was the last one and became Dark Phoenix and killed Charles Xavier. Thanks to Hope and The Scarlet Witch and some help from Jean Grey, the Phoenix left him and became one with hope who ascended as the White Phoenix and combined Wanda's powers and wish away the Phoenix and brought back the mutant race. Cyclops was sent to a prison but broke out with help of Magneto, Magik, and Danger but lots of the X-men lost their trust for him.

Later he and Magneto went to look for Emma Frost. They found her but their powers started to lose control. Emma believes it was Phoenix who did this even though Magneto was not a host but Emma believes Cyclops did this to him. Later on both Emma and Magneto are upset but still help him create a mutant revolution. He was confronted by the original 5 X-Men and are ready for battle. After the battle they were all shocked by this and soon later decided to meet the All New X-Men team by coming to the Jean Grey School For Higher Learning.

Enraged by the willingness of Wolverine and the X-Men to sell out their founding members, Professor Kitty Pryde takes the Original Five X-Men and defects to the modern-day Cyclops's Uncanny X-Men. The epilogue ends with Magik and Cyclops taking the original X-Men and Kitty with them at their secret base.
